The heart of Cardiff

Golate House & 31–38 Westgate Street, Cardiff

Golate House is a mixed-use commercial property located on a prominent corner site in central Cardiff, Wales, with frontage onto St Mary Street, Golate Street, and Westgate Street. The property was formerly managed by Savills, and comprises two buildings — Golate House and 31–38 Westgate Street — connected by a shared secure car park accessible from Golate Street and providing 21 spaces. Its position in the heart of Cardiff city centre places it within walking distance of Cardiff Central railway station and the full range of amenities that make central Cardiff one of Wales' most active commercial property markets.

We developed a complete visual identity for Golate House, creating a brand that is firmly rooted in the character, heritage, and geography of Cardiff and the surrounding area.

The identity draws on three distinct sources of local inspiration. A flowing, wavy pattern running through the design evokes the River Taff — the river that runs through Cardiff city centre — grounding the brand in the immediate landscape and giving it a sense of place that is specific to this location rather than generic. The colour palette is built around a vibrant red, reflecting the bold civic spirit of Cardiff and drawing on the colour most deeply associated with the Welsh capital and with Wales as a whole. The choice of a bold, stencilled typeface pays direct homage to Golate House's industrial heritage — acknowledging the building's history while giving the identity a sense of strength and permanence that matches the physical character of the site.

Alongside the brand identity, Pave designed and produced a printed property brochure for Golate House, giving prospective occupiers and agents a polished, tangible marketing document that communicates the property's proposition, specification, and location clearly and compellingly.
